A group of friends are collectively embarking on a 21 days Gratitude Challenge. One friend is anchoring the challenge and every day she send out an email to reflect and act on one theme. I thought I will share my 21 days of gratitude reflections here:
What do I have enough of?
Day 1 was an invitation to reflect on our places of sufficiency. Not measuring anything in quantity and not confusing it with abundance either. As Lynne Twist said,
“Sufficiency isn’t an amount at all. It is an experience, a context we generate, a declaration, a knowing that there is enough, and that we are enough.”
Lynne Twist
This question couldn’t have come on a better day. Today I had an experience that left me feeling insufficient, incapable, and just less than enough in a very deep emotional way. While after sitting on it, I was able to notice that I was judging myself unfairly and that I need to stop but that awareness came after I had already spent time ruminating on it! To distract myself, I opened my email and found the challenge for Day 1. It felt like it was meant just for me. I am really looking forward to making this list 🙂
So here’s my list of what I have enough of. I am just going to write one word for each.
- Love
- Smiles
- Well wishes
- Blessings
- Relationships
- Friendships
- Inspiration
- Guidance
- Ideas
- Stories
- Drama
- Troubles
- Health
- Physical capabilities
- Home
- Food
- Books
- Art supplies
- Money & other material things
- Places travelled to and to visit
- Miles to walk/ run/ bike
This list is by far not complete and definitely doesn’t mean that I don’t have an aspiration to strive for more. But it surely helps me see that “I am enough and I have enough.” It helps me let go of my feeling of insufficiency. I also added “enough troubles” in the list because those are what helps keep life in balance.
This really answered my downside, thank you!
